I truly believe everyone can learn to draw and create art! I really want to inspire you to create something beautiful. I came up with these simple rosettes that I feel anyone can learn to draw. You can do it!
Learning to draw these cute roses is pretty easy. They come in handy when you want to make a DIY card for someone or are looking for a way to add a cute, personalized piece of artwork to your home. I colored my rosettes with faber-castell polychromos colored pencils–which I LOVE! I will teach you how I draw and color these cute little things.
The first thing you want to do is to draw a really uneven circle (yes, finally). Then add in three sliver moon shapes for the petals. Make them overlap in any way you choose. Then add three more and a center circle shape. And there you have it. A simple way to draw a rosette!
I like drawing these roses in sets of three. Three is a pleasing number for the eye. Draw a few sets of three on your paper. Don’t forget the leaves! When I was done drawing, I went over my pencil drawings with an ultra-fine tip sharpie. I then added some circles and dots for interest.

Important: Lay down the lightest colors first and build up from there!
After laying down the lightest color on the whole rose, choose a slightly darker color for the petals. Then choose a color to add detail around and in the petals. Make sure to leave some highlight areas. You don’t want to completely cover up all your lightest spots.
Do the same thing for the petals.
You can even add shadows if you would like. I did some light shadow areas.
Go ahead and make a handmade card for someone. I drew this one with an inspirational quote. I think I will keep it for myself and prop it up on my dresser. I just like having reminders to have a good day since I DO have four kids and all.
What do you think? Is there a project you are working on that may be enhanced with some cute, easy to draw roses?
