Sometimes its nice to receive a handmade card with thoughtful words inside. I wanted to make a card to send to a couple friends just to say thanks, so I came up with this cute bird card. It could be used to say thank you or to say something nice.
I feel like it is so important to stay grateful and to tell people how thankful we are for them. That is why I want to share this free printable thank you (or simple note) card with you guys!
The great thing about this card is that you print it and then color it so it feels handmade! I included a tutorial for how I colored mine. But you can do it any way you choose.
Download Your Bird Card Here
There are two downloads to choose from:
- Print on an actual blank 5×7 card
- Print on a 8.5×11 piece of cardstock (You will cut around the outline once you print it)
If you want a good quality print, then set your printer setting to fine. It will print slowly, but it is so worth it.
If you are printing on a blank card, then make sure you set your paper size to 5×7 before printing.
I actually sent a card like this to the woman who taught me how to sing. That is why I designed it with a treble clef and musical notes. This would be a perfect card to send to a music teacher.
How To Color the Bird
Start with the lightest colors first. Put down the base colors on the whole bird. I used a light brown for the body and wings, and a red for the chest feathers.
Next, lay down a bit of a darker brown on the body. Leave the middle area lighter for depth.
Add a darker brown to the tips of the wings.
Color a darker red on top of the brown. I used the same red to add some more depth to the chest.
I wanted the face to look white, but I didn’t want to leave it the color of the paper. I decided to use a very light gray for that effect.
Add a shadow to the ground with a gray color. Shadows can make a simple art piece come to life.
Now its ready to send! I have found that sending simple thank you cards to people makes me feel so good. When we are grateful, we are happy and successful.
Please feel free to share this post with your friends so they can also use it. But please do not copy, distribute, or sell this card. I work hard to create my art, so please be respectful. Follow me on bloglovin’ so you can make sure to receive all my free printables.
